Emil Schacht was awarded the commission to design this house for $16,000 and announced in the June 16, 1906 Pacific Builder and Engineer. Freiwald rejected Schacht's design, which was stunning in view of the many projects that Schacht desinged for Freiwald. A new commission was awarded to H.H. Menges for $15,000 and announced in the August 4, 1906 Pacific Builder. This change of architects may explain why the house has a Queen Anne exterior and an Arts & Crafts interior.
(Chronological, descriptive history of the property from its construction through at least the historic period - preferably to the present)
